Businesses and homeowners battling through the recession are being hit by an increase fire treat according to figures released by the ABI (Association of British Insurers).

The cost of fire damage in 2008 rose to a record £1.3billion - £3.4 million every day. Domestic Fire damage cost £408 million, commercial fire damage cost £865 million and school fires alone cost £33 million, with a serious school fire occurring every month on average.

In a period from March 2007 to March 2008 there were a staggering 382,000 fires in the UK.  With these figures in mind it is vital that home owners and employers take every possible step to provide protection against fire.

In fact, the law requires each and every employer to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment of the workplace and if this is not done then as an employer you could be running your business illegally.  For example, under the Data Protection Act relating to employee records, it is a requirement that these are held in a secure lockable cabinet.

The Safe Supermarket offers a variety of highly secure products that are specifically designed to protect those important documents, computer back up data and irreplaceable valuables that can be lost forever in a fire.

56% for companies that suffer a fire go out of business in the first year.  What would you loose if you had a fire?  How would you go about recuperating that information or valuables you’ve lost.  It is widely regarded that 8 out of 10 companies and home owners will not have any correct form of fire protection.
