A wall safe might be a better bet if you're short on space

When people think of deposit safes in the home or workplace they very often immediately bring to mind the idea of a huge steel box sitting in the corner of a room with a dial that only a talented detective with a stethoscope could possibly break in to.

They're usually brown in colour and pretty unattractive so hiding one next to the television is generally a no-no. It's pretty unlikely you'd be able to get one to fit in with the decor either, so taking along a piece of carpet or curtain to your local safe shop is unlikely to do you any good.

Luckily, there's another option and it can actually mean you have a more secure option. It's the wall-safe and although they require a little work, they can offer an extremely useful place to store your valuables.

A wall safe, as if you didn't already realise, is essentially a safe that is inserted into a wall. It obviously needs to be installed professionally to ensure it's secure and can't simply be ripped out the wall, but if done properly you have not only an extremely secure place to put things, it's also hidden.

Although safes are by their very nature, safe, why not take away any temptation the thief may have by simply hiding the safe itself. If the thief has got enough time, they may be tempted to try to break in or force a safe door. If they can't even find it then they will never even attempt it.

Obviously there are some downfalls to this approach as wall safes do have limitations. For example, they are very often much smaller than normal safes, walls just aren't as big as they used to be, but if you're just storing jewelery or money, this shouldn't be a problem.
