As we live our super-speedy lives and just get on with the day-to-day job of working for a living, we sometimes tend to be in a bit of a bubble, unaware of what goes on around us. It's unsurprising, then, that many people don't consider what could happen to their valuables or important documents in the event of a fire.
Like many things, a fire that damages our goods or equipment is 'something that happens to others'. Unfortunately, the statistics speak for themselves.
In the most recent figures available from the
Office of National Statistics, there are around 41,000 fires a year in buildings other than dwellings. A scary statistic, however what's more daunting is the fact that houses and flats attract nearly 71,000 fires a year.
Now, we're an office supplies company and so home use wouldn't normally be our main market, but with the proliferation of home-based businesses, all having the same legal requirement to store documents as normal business, the time has come to offer them some sort of safety.
Luckily,
fire proof safes are no longer at the cost that only large business can afford and laptop safes and a new range of
home office safes now mean that probably the most important part of the small business can be protected.
